I make useful felt items from organically certified British wool. I love the softness, smell and tactility of wool and find the everyday presence of this sustainable fibre brings comfort and warmth to our lives. I always wear my glasses pouch around my neck, insoles in my shoes, tuffets on seats and a felt hot water bottle at night. I keep my drinks warm with felt cosies and warm up the walls with felt wall hangings.Paragraph 2
I combine needle felting with embroidery and applique. I run regular felting sessions for local people, creating community wall panels on environmental themes. Our "Teign River Serpent" is currently on display at Drogo Castle nearby, and playfully focuses on the impacts that humans have on our rivers.
Bellacouche means "beautiful resting place" and the main focus of my work has been felt shroud making for funerals. My studio workshop is in Chagford. I am the founder of Wonderworks craft fair, and member of Make Southwest.
